Lifelong resident of the Pittsburgh area. Raised in the steel mill town of Duquesne, PA. Educated at Holy Trinity in
Duquesne and at Serra Catholic in McKeesport. Graduate of Penn State University with a B.A. in German. Studied Slovak
six semesters at the University of Pittsburgh.
Slovak and Irish roots. Other known names in my lineage are Jakuba, Dzuna, Revak, Krivda, Brahoski, Kochan, Palasta,
Vasil. Also, Flynn, Price, Kellard, Price, Mulrine, Mullen, Donovan and Glover.
Career experience: Marketing and copywriting.
First job in advertising at the Daily News Publishing Co. in McKeesport, PA, then worked at the W.S. Hill Co. (ad agency)
in Pittsburgh as a copy-contact account executive for more than six years. From 1987 to 1999 worked at DDI, Bridgeville, PA,
in various marketing positions. Currently marketing manager at Gorell Enterprises, manufacturer of the finest replacement
windows anywhere.
Married to Vicki and have three children. Currently living in Indiana, PA, about 50 miles northeast
of Pittsburgh. Great town. Member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Interests
include the Slovak language and family genealogy. Taught Slovak language courses at Indiana University of PA, Westmoreland
Community College in Latrobe and the Community College of Allegheny County (Boyce Campus) near Pittsburgh -- and most recently
at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in Johnstown, under the auspices of the Slovak Heritage Association of the Laurel
Highlands.
